DEEDS ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN GREAT WORDS
Renewable electricity
We have been using renewably sources - wind and water - for electricity since 2010. 228 solar panels were installed on our roof in May 2018. Panels output was 54 MWh in first year (4.5.2018-3.5.2019). That corresponds one fourth of our electricity consumption.
Fabrics
Our basic materials in production are 100% polyester or 100% natural fibres like cotton and linen. We can provide products from recirculated polyester (RC) as well. We are looking for new materials from pulp and we are ready to print them already. We require responsibility from companies that are delivering fabrics to us. Most of our fabrics are processed in Europe according the EU standards. Further information on environmental issues of printed textiles can be read on VTT:s research Environmental performance of future digital textile printing.
Circulating fabrics
There are many ways to have a new life for used textile products. Used banners and flags may have a new life as small products (bags, aprons etc) or filtrative layers in road construction. We use no PVC-based textiles so in most cases the burning will be safe and best choice for environment.
Dyes, pigments and waste
We use no PVC-based fabrics and no plastisols (that is PVC with softeners as phtalates) in screen printing. We use water-based pastes that are recognized by soft touch and they can be hot ironed.
We collect the residue paste in order to minimize the waste water load. Paste residues are processed by Ekokem Oy in Riihimäki. We have renewed our screen exposure system in November 2018 and have no films and film making chemicals any more.
Our waste waters are purified in biological process at Pälkäne municipal waste water treating plant since December 2019.
Transport and logistics
We try to avoid air transport as much as possible in our logistic operations.
